Galliano Launch
JOHN
GALLIANO's eponymous
label, which is no longer helmed by the designer following his dismissal in
March, has launched an online store for the first time. Now created by
Galliano's former assistant Bill
Gaytten, the brand does little to distance itself from its founder
and namesake in a statement about the launch.
"Galliano's
essence of energy and innovation inspires the ever-evolving narrative across
the site, and infuses the web with the unique Galliano identity," it says.
"The Galliano vision is firmly set towards the future yet remains grounded
in a competitive price bracket."
It remains to be seen
how the brand will perform without the designer at the helm and - although
Gaytten's first catwalk outing for the label was relatively well received -
whether the accessibility of an online shop will encourage international
consumers to spend sans John.
What may get fans of
the designer shopping, however, is the news that the site will launch with the final collection created by Galliano himself before
his departure - an
offering of vintage-inspired dresses similar to that which Galliano created for Kate Moss' wedding.
