Kate Picture Sold
Updated Friday November 18, 11.11am: The famous
"waif" picture of Kate Moss, taken for German Vogue by Albert Watson in 1993, fetched £16,250 at an
auction last night in London.
Updated Thursday November 10, 9.17am: An
early 1993 picture of 19-year-old Kate Moss, taken on a rooftop in Marrakech,
is set to be auctioned for anything between £12,000 - £18,000. Shot by Albert
Watson, the photographer has described the image as "among the best
pictures ever taken of her, and she said so as well recently".
"This picture is one of a limited edition of ten and is an
impressive piece for its size," explained Sotheby's head of photography
Jocelyn Phillips. "These factors, along with the fact that Albert Watson
is a sought after artist and Kate Moss of course an iconic figure, make it a
highly desirable item to appear at auction."
Other highlights from the Bonhams auction include Terry O'Neill's famous
shot of Brigitte Bardot, the late Corinne Day's portrait of a young Kate Moss and Albert Watson's black and white
picture of Christy Turlington in 1990.
The sale will take place at Bonhams on November 17.
