Monroe Tribute
MARILYN
MONROE is the subject
of a new exhibition, opening at the Getty Images Gallery on March 9, marking
the 50th anniversary
of the Hollywood icon's tragic death. The showcase will include original
dresses and costumes worn by the star herself, as well as never-seen-before
photographs of the actress when she was a child and later shots of her at glamorous
film premieres.
"We are extremely excited to present our Marilynexhibition, offering the public
unparalleled and rare access to Marilyn's life through the iconic imagery from
Getty Images' extensive archival collection," said Getty Images Gallery
director Louise Garczewska. "Private Monroe memorabilia collector David
Gainsborough Roberts has kindly loaned us Marilyn's dresses which the public
can see in London for the first time ever, making this exhibition a perfect
tribute to one of Hollywood's greats."
Highlights include pictures of Monroe relaxing in her Palm
Springs home and
an intimate shot of the actress practicing her lines. An original film will
also be shown, giving visitors further insight into Monroe's troubled life.
Marilyn will be on display from March 9 to May 23 at
Getty Images Gallery, 46 Eastcastle St London W1W 8DX.
