Time For
Fashion Tea
THE
Berkeley is back with its seasonal fashion high tea. This time the cake
collection is inspired by the autumn/winter
2011-12 collections and takes Stella
McCartney's spot dress, Miu
Miu's golden glitter shoes, Lanvin's
elegant draped capes, Sonia
Rykiel's stripes and Burberry's
sugary trench - among others - as its key looks.
Painstaking in their quest to get the colours, the looks and
the trends just right the chefs at The Berkeley attend the shows each season -
to make sure the hotel's now legendary Prêt-à-Portea is just right
as you enjoy it in the elegant surrounds of its Caramel Room.
So back to the important stuff - the details of the cakes: a
Stella McCartney polka dot sponge cake, a Lanvin crème de mure jelly topped
with signature folded meringue, a gold Dolce
& Gabbana chocolate éclair sprinkled with festive stars, a Miu Miu
winter spice biscuit shoe, a Jil
Sander pomegranate and grenadine mouse dress, a Sonia Rykiel striped almond
mouthful, and a Burberry trench biscuit. Delicious.
Prêt-à-Portea
is served in The Caramel Room at The Berkeley from 1 to 6pm every day, priced
at £36.50 (£46.50 including a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne). Call 020
7235 6000 to make a reservation.
