Diamond Jubilee
The Victoria
& Albert Museum has announced an exhibition entitled Queen
Elizabeth II by Cecil Beaton, set to take place later this year, in honour of
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Details of the exhibition, which is
sponsored by jeweller Garrard, have not yet been revealed but all will become
clearer at the V&A on February 6 when exhibition curator Susanna Brown
will unveil it to press.
Updated Friday January 6, 8.17am: The Central Weekend to celebrate
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee takes place from Saturday June 2 to Tuesday June 5
2012, with celebratory activities throughout the United Kingdom and across the
Commonwealth.
The Jubilee
Weekend features an extra Bank Holiday for the Diamond Jubilee, with the late
May Bank Holiday moved one week later, thereby making a 4-day long weekend. The
government announced the extra Bank Holiday for the Diamond Jubilee on 5
January 2010.
Highlights
of the weekend, organised by Buckingham Palace, will include The Queen's visit
to the Epsom Derby on Saturday June 2; The Big Jubilee Lunch and the Thames
Diamond Jubilee Pageant on Sunday June 3; The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons
and the Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace, televised by the BBC, on
Monday June 4; and a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral on Tuesday
June 5 before the event closes with a formal carriage Procession by The Queen.

below sites for more information on the events:
Updated Wednesday January 4, 12.22pm: The Diamond Jubilee Pageant will
take place on the 10, 11 and 13 May 2012 in Windsor, the Palace confirmed
today. For further information please visit www.diamond-jubilee-pageant.com.
Updated Tuesday January 3, 10.12am: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee
celebrations aren't set to be a time of rest and relaxation for the Monarch and
her family - and will in fact see all members travelling widely. The
Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will embark on series of regional
visits and engagements throughout the United Kingdom during 2012 - supported by
other members of the royal family, who will also journey further afield.
The Prince
of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will travel to Australia, Canada, New
Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man; whilst The
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will journey to Malaysia,
Singapore, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu; and Prince Harry will head on
appropriately fun-sounding trip to Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas.
